The Women who Shaped This Work

JMB Creative Strategies is dedicated to two enterprising women.

Oliver Mae Cook — a housekeeper and cook with an 8th grade education who raised five children on her own and made a way out of no way; leading through service as an Eastern Star and active member of her church.

Delores Garrette — a trailblazing first-generation college graduate, HBCU alumna, and one of the first Black women to graduate from her nursing school; a respected RN for more than 50 years who later built healthcare consulting and home health businesses of her own.

Their example shaped how I lead, build, and serve through this work.

Two women smiling and posing for a photo in a dimly lit room. The woman on the left has curly hair, bright lipstick, and is wearing gold earrings and a patterned dress. The woman on the right has dark, voluminous hair, wears a large necklace with translucent stones and a black top with her hair styled in an afro.
A woman with dark skin sitting in front of a floral-patterned curtain, wearing a white nurse uniform and white cap, with hands clasped in lap.
An adult woman hugging a young girl, both smiling at the camera, inside a warmly lit room.
